On a completely different topic, sport fans all over America must be happy that the U.S. Congress is passing a bill to create a college football playoff system to determine a National Champion. (to read the article “House panel passes college football playoff bill”). The article states,
“The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff. The measure passed by voice vote in a House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee, with one audible “no,” from Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga.
This bill was sponsored by Rep. Joe Barton, a Texas Republican. Evidently he has issues upon his mind other than terrorism, taxes, and financial turmoil that can be seen in our nation. Thankfully John Barrow (a Democrat from Georgia) showed some sense and voted “no”. In case you ever wonder why Congress doesn’t really do “anything substantive” this is it!
Then again with Rep. Barton being in the minority party currently, and having no real chance at any meaningful legislative agenda (other than scaring Americans according to the President) this is a nice distraction. Oh… he graduated from Texas A&M
